I believe God will allow my child to go to college.

With all due respect, it’s going to take a lot more than God’s will — things such as search for “best fit” and proactive preparation for the unique challenges.

Keep in mind, ALL students can gain admission SOMEWHERE. The key here is not admission, but rather, RETENTION… That’s what our kids find so difficult.

Retention will come with our children! As we strive to show them and encourage them to press toward the mark of the high calling on their lives. Our youth are our future. Pray and things will change.

You hit the nail on the head when you said we need to SHOW our kids how to reach a higher calling. We are their role models. I once had a very devout student in class tell me that praying would help him on a test. While I don’t know that it won’t, I know it doesn’t replace good habits and studying.

If praying were sufficient, nobody would need to work in college. A college degree would come via divine intervention… and that just doesn’t happen.

Amen to great study habits to addition to prayer.
