School’s back, and that means tests are just around the corner. Is your teen up to the task of studying AND recalling?

It’s hard not to notice how much emphasis our culture puts on physical exercise, right? But what about mental fitness?
You know the old saying–”If you don’t lose it, you lose it”? Well, this applies as much to mental gymnastics as it does to physical!
Not only can we prevent loss through exercise, we can strengthen our physical and cognitive abilities through workouts. Just as running, bicycling, lifting weights, etc. increase our muscle mass and endurance, brain exercises improve our memory and ability to think on our feet.
If your teen is struggling with recall, word retrieval, visual memory issues, etc. playing brain games regularly can beef up neural connections…. and even form new ones! And you’ll be pleased to know it need NOT be drudgery.
Lure your teen away from video games with these engaging mental exercises. However, just as you sneak vegetables into foods, don’t tell your teens that these games are good for them! The minute you do that, they’ll run the other way!
Instead, introduce these freebies as entertaining video games and encourage competition against oneself. Can your daughter or son beat his/her last score?
Trust me–these games are so addicting, you and your kids will be fighting for computer time!
See BRAIN GAMES for a variety of EXCELLENT mental workouts!
