    Dual enrollment allows high school students, even those with learning disabilities, to take college-level courses in their high schools that count as both high school and college credits. The idea is that taking college courses early imbues students with the confidence needed to enroll in college. According to Inside Higher Ed , this practice probably does students more harm than good.

    Whenever I tell parents of teens with LD/ADD of the high failure rate of our kids in college, they suspect I am either exploiting them for personal gain or am overly pessimistic. The bottom line is this: KIDS WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES NEED PREPARATION PRIOR TO COLLEGE TO MAXIMIZE CHANCES OF SUCCESS.
